Vertical Solutions supports most operating platforms but there are advantages and disadvantages to each depending on the applications required by each customer. These recommendations are made to allow our customers to obtain the best price and performance.

Considering the amount of information and number of applications required by today's customer, it is critical to understand the computing power required platform best for the job. required. One thing is clear today it requires more than one server, even in a small business.

Listed below are the applications either currently in use by our customers or will be implemented within the next 6-18 months. The second column contains the recommended application server. Generally speaking any server can handle any of the tasks however the table below is based on industry standards, price/performance considerations, actual platform benchmarks and VSI's experience with customers specific networks.

The results of table are clear. The computing requirements are to many and to complex for ONE server. Today's network must include an NT Server as well as an SCO Unix application server to provide the most flexible, reliable, secure and the best price/performance.

The SQL Data Warehouse for Open Systems requires a MicroSoft Windows 2000 (or NT 4.0) server running SQL 7. The Open Systems Accounting Software can operate on any Open Systems currently supported operating system. See Vertical Solutions general platform discussion and recommendations.
